Ambassador of Ecuador to ASEAN Bids Farewell

JAKARTA, 24 January 2014 - Ambassador of Ecuador to ASEAN, H.E. Eduardo Calderon paid a courtesy call on Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Le Luong Minh, yesterday to bid farewell at the completion of his tenure.

Ambassador Calderon was thankful for his three-year proactive assignment as Ambassador of Ecuador to ASEAN, with concurrent accreditation to Indonesia, Timor Leste and Brunei Darussalam; during which he had the opportunity to bring ASEAN countries closer to Ecuador and the Latin American region. He hoped that cooperation between the two regions would be further strengthened through interactions and exchange of experience and best practices. Ambassador Calderon committed to continue, in his new capacity, support both sides in this endeavour.

Secretary-General Minh expressed appreciation to Ambassador Calderon for his active contribution in promoting the relations between ASEAN and Ecuador as well as ASEAN and regional organisations in Latin America such as FEALAC and CELAC. He further stressed that the common objectives of mutual trust and understanding through dialogues and cooperation among developing countries in the two regions would constitute a strong foundation for their future cooperation.  Secretary-General Minh wished Ambassador Calderon all the best in his future undertakings and looked forward to working with his successor to further enhance ASEAN-Latin America cooperation in areas of common interest.
